Miniature train speed monitor Mk2
This report provides full technical details of an experimental project to measure the speed of trains on miniature railway networks.
A number of solutions have been tried with varying degrees of success. The combination of physical aspects, such as the varying design of locomotives and rolling stock,
and environmental conditions, has presented a particularly difficult situation for which the author has been unable to track down a reliable standard solution.
A new approach is presented that uses ultrasound. This is fully explained and with design details. It is expected that this will open up a range of possibilities for many operators.
